Meetings of the American Association of Individual Investors [AAII]AAII is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to investor education. The AAII-Chicago Chapter offers a schedule of monthly meetings (September through May) featuring prominent local and national speakers. For further information, visit website AAII -Chicago Chapter. Regional subgroups of the Chicago-AAII Chapter provide an informal atmosphere for individual investors to meet and discuss topics of common interest.

Peter Bernstein had a privileged birth to accomplished New York parents. His upbringing and education gave him entrée to Harvard and the Federal Reserve. He used these gifts wisely and became a noted economics professor, the author of classic books in finance and investing [e.g., "Capital Ideas", "Against the Gods"], and the founder of an eponymous New York investment advisory firm. When Bernstein died at age 90 earlier this month, he was lauded for his clear-headed view of investing, his understanding of risk, and his insights into human nature. At the June meeting, we'll examine some of Bernstein's key ideas, find out what he had to say about the 2008 market meltdown, and take away his predictions on what the future holds. YOUR assignment for JUNE... Come to this meeting to read, listen and learn from one of the notable investment gurus of our age. For extra credit and your own advantage, do a web search on "Peter L. Bernstein" and discover the man in advance of our meeting.
In recent months North Shore meeting attendance has been rising... ...because there's a chance investors will log profits this year! Everyone has the chance to get a front row seat at our egalitarian meetings... come early and often. The Sturgeon General of California has determined that second-hand stock tips may be hazardous to your wealth... but the good news is he's smoking again and California has no money to cure his upcoming lung cancer. Satisfaction with these meetings is not guaranteed... but we are rated "AAA" among Illinois NorthShore AAII subgroups. Discussion at North Shore meetings may include disinformation, misinformation or ugly factoids... persons under 18 will not be admitted without a stockholder. The average investment reward realized by people attending North Shore AAII Subgroup meetings is only surpassed by the value of the warm glow that our intellectual conversation and camaraderie generate.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS The Northbrook Chamber building is at the corner of Walters and First Street, one block west of the intersection of Walters Avenue and Shermer Road. Enter the building on First Street through the door under the awning marked "Civic Foundation".
