...meets at 7 PM on the Fourth Tuesday of each month, January through November [NO meeting in December!], at the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce Building, 2002 Walters Avenue, Northbrook, Illinois (Click Here for Directions). NEXT MEETING DATE: TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23 -- 7 PM
There have been many interesting publications and new product announcements the past six months that the NorthShore group has not had time to consider. This month group leader Alan Liebman will present a program of Investing Potpourri. The mixture will include... 1) Why the SEC has barred the publisher of Value Line from running her own company for life! 2) New kinds of municipal bonds you can put in your tax-deferred retirement account... but should you? 3) If you buy and sell passive (i.e., "index") funds, does that make you an active passive investor? Is this a good thing to be? What about being a passive passive investor who "buys and holds" index funds? A new analysis explores good and bad things to do ... passive-actively. 4) Do investment fund managers "eat their own cooking"? 5) Newer fangled Exchange-Traded Funds ... are investors dizzy yet? 6) Should you convert your Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA now that anyone is allowed to? Tough call... we'll discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of it.
YOUR assignment for FEBRUARY... Come ready to learn... study materials will be provided. Members can prepare for topic #3 above by reading the following article before the meeting:
In recent months North Shore meetings have been vibrant... ...because our group members are fun-loving billionaires who share a great lust for life! Speaking of lust, the Sturgeon General of California has determined that second-hand stock tips may be hazardous to your wealth... so only use information from impeccable sources, like Jim Cramer. Satisfaction with these meetings is not guaranteed because every now and then some malcontent threatens to sig lawyers on us. Discussion at North Shore meetings may include disinformation, misinformation or ugly factoids... persons under 18 will not be admitted without a stockholder. The average investment reward realized by people attending North Shore AAII Subgroup meetings would reach the 2nd story of Willis Tower if stacked up in pennies.
FUTURE MEETING DATES March 23, 2010 [4th Tuesday, NOT last Tuesday!] -- To be announced. April 27, 2010 [4th Tuesday!] -- To be announced.
